Indonesian mortar and pestles are very hard to find in the U.S. Herbs and spices are ground in a back and forth motion using the unique "right-angle" pestle. Use to make pastes used in traditional Indonesian cooking. The mortar portion is fairly shallow with a wide grinding surface.
Dimensions (approximate, hand made) 10- 10 1/2" Diameter x 2 3/4" high. Solid basalt stone. Imported from Indonesia.
